Since 2011, Shandong Steel (山钢) has been engaged in the research and development of crawler track steel, successively developing 4 types of steel, 6 major series, and 31 specifications of products, achieving the production of a full range of products from 135 to 317 sizes. Crawler track steel is primarily used in the chassis components of crawler tractors, bulldozers, excavators, and pavers, among other construction machinery, and has been widely applied in leading enterprises in China's construction machinery manufacturing industry, such as Shantui, XCMG, Sany, and Longking.
The 317 specification crawler track steel, as the largest single-tooth crawler track steel product, is a necessary material for ultra-large tonnage construction machinery. Previously, only one European company was capable of producing this product, holding a global monopoly. Shandong Steel has broken this foreign monopoly, addressing the long-standing issue of China's reliance on imported materials. This achievement not only strengthens the domestic supply chain but also contributes to the independence and self-reliance of China's construction machinery sector.
